I am so happy to be at Amherst Education Center. As a school counselor, my statement of philosophy is centered around supporting and challenging students to explore their lives, emotions, behaviors, and relationships, with a goal of empowering the student to make informed decisions and a realistic approach to their short and long term goals.
All Professional School Counselors are trained specifically to address three main areas with students in the school setting. These include helping students with 1) Academics, 2) College and Career goals, and 3) Personal and Social needs.
In addition to these main categories, a lot of my focus this year will include working with students on attendance, connecting to the community and their school. Please read over the attached attendance letter and share it with your student. Let us know how we can best support you and your children so that they can show up for school on time every day.
