Global Trade

Around the time of the Renaissance, trade throughout the world drastically increases. The capture of Constantinople (now Istanbul) changes European trade forever.

Major changes are taking place in the World. The Scientific Revolution changes the way people think about and view their world. Meanwhile, leaders and several countries attempt to take complete control of their governments after the Catholic Church loses its control.

Nationalism and Imperialism create world conflicts directly leading to the first major war between multiple nations.

Post World War I

The excesses of the Roaring 20s and the crash of the stock market, along with the deep depression of Germany caused by the reaparations, lead directly to the rise of dictators throughout the world.

World War II

The rise of extreme nationalism, the Great Depression, and the yearning for more power leads to the rise of dictators throughout the world. Hitler, Mussolini, and Tojo form an alliance to invade other countries and kill anyone in their way. Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin form an alliance to combat the evils tearing through Europe and the Pacific. Atomic power is put to the ultimate test as the ultimate weapon of war.

Cold War

After World War II, strained relations between the democratic United States and the communist Soviet Union causes the "Cold War." Many events will pit one against the other, democracy vs. communism, over and over. These events include the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall. Eventually, communism will fall in most countries.

Independence Movements

The fight against imperialism leads to a push for independence of many areas in the world. India and Africa break free from being colonies to being their own nations.

The present day world involves many facets. Religious and ethnic conflicts cover the globe. Global interdependence binds many countries. Developed and developing nations differ in specific aspects. And terrorism threatens millions around the world.
